James Coney began his career as a workshop technician at a John Jones Ltd, a prestigious London based framing company in 2005.  James has since gained extensive experience in all aspects of the art technical industry.  A skilled fabricator and installation specialist, James has worked in many galleries and museums around the UK and has held senior technical positions at the National Maritime Musuem, Tate Gallery, the Hayward Gallery and Hayward Gallery Touring. 

Eleanor Johnson is a qualified conservator with specialist experience in the conservation and restoration of art on paper.  Eleanor graduated with an MA in the Conservation of Artworks on Paper from Northumbria University in 2009, Eleanor went on to complete a two-year internship in Paper Conservation at Tate Gallery.  Since 2013, Eleanor has worked as a freelance paper conservator for a range of private clients, commercial art galleries and museums. These organisations include the National Portrait Gallery, the Hayward Gallery, the Arts Council Collection, White Cube, Victoria Miró and the Frazer Nash Archives. 

James and Eleanor met while both were working at Tate Gallery, founding Three Hares Art in 2015. Working in London until 2019, the duo relocated to James’s native North Yorkshire and set up a new studio and workshop on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

The partnership continues to provide high quality art services to galleries, museums, collections and private clients.
